“Where is the key for 1 High Street?” – Log+Key answers that without anyone searching or phoning round. Every take-out, return and take-over is recorded the moment it happens. This guide shows the quickest ways to the answer.
Object list: searching for an object, the column “Taken by” shows who has it
Finding a specific object
- Open Objects in the web app.
- Type part of the name into the Search. It also matches descriptions and custom-field values, such as a contract number.
- Read the Taken by column: it shows who has the object right now. The Status shows Available, In use or Overdue once a return date has passed.
A click on the row opens the detail page. For an object that is out, it shows Taken by, and for an object with a deadline also the Return deadline with date and time.
All objects that are out right now
Sort the object list by Status or Taken by, or narrow it down with the Filter:
- Overdue – all objects whose return date has passed.
- Taken by me – only your own take-outs.
- Location and Type – for example only the vehicle keys of one station.
What a person has right now
The list under Users shows in the Taken objects column how many objects each person has right now. A click on the person opens their detail page; the Taken objects section names every single object. You open a person’s history on their detail page via More actions → Show history.
Objects you assigned to an external contact are found in the object list – the contact appears there in the Taken by column. A contact’s detail page does not list their objects.
Stock per type and location
The lists under Types and Locations count Objects for each entry, and of those In use, Available and Archived. So you can see without filtering how many vehicle keys are out right now, or how many objects are still in the cabinet at one station.
Who had an object before
The History covers the past: type the object name into the search and narrow the period with Filter → Entries from – until. Each row shows who took out, returned or took over the object, and when. You also reach the history of a single object from its detail page via More actions → History.
At the terminal
After signing in at the terminal you see your own take-outs. Roles with the permission All Taken in Terminal – admins and owners by default – switch to the view All taken: every object someone has right now, with the column Taken by. More in Using the terminal day to day.
Who sees what
Every role with View Objects or Manage Objects sees the object list. Two restrictions can shorten it: the permission Only Own Objects shows only your own take-outs, and restricted location access shows only the objects of the permitted locations. The Users, Types and Locations areas are visible to admins and owners by default.
