With and without Log+Key
What goes wrong with keys in security services
-
Without Log+Key: Shift change at 10 pm – and the handover book stays patchy.
With Log+Key: Scanned in seconds – the next shift sees straight away what it’s taking over.
-
Without Log+Key: An alarm at 2 am – and the property key has to be found first.
With Log+Key: The live overview shows at once: in the store, in the vehicle or with a colleague.
-
Without Log+Key: “Where’s our master key?” – the client asks, years later.
With Log+Key: The complete history proves every movement since the intake.
-
Without Log+Key: A subcontractor takes over the property key – and the proof is a slip of paper.
With Log+Key: Assigned to the contact with a signature, the PDF receipt goes to them by email.

Hand over site keys without holding anyone up
At the terminal in the guard room, staff sign in with a PIN or their own NFC tag and scan all keys in one go. On patrol, a smartphone is enough. The next shift sees straight away what is out.
Film: an NFC tag is scanned with a smartphone and the app lists the items to check out; then a hand holds the tag to the terminal, which confirms the checkout
Built for security services
Made for day-to-day guarding work
Log+Key was built together with professionals in care, property management, facility management and security. So it adapts to the way you work – not the other way round.
- PIN terminal at the guard post; on the move, any smartphone will do.
- Intake from the client with date, number of keys and optional signature.
- Handovers where they happen: at the post, in the vehicle, at the property.
- Restrict each employee’s access to selected locations.

Alarm at 2 am
The right site key, straight away
One search shows whether the key is in the store or who has it right now. The history proves every checkout and return, even years later when a client asks about their master key.
Screencast: searching for a vehicle key, its detail page and the history of every checkout and return
Audits and certification
Your key stock, documented for audit
During a stocktake you scan tag by tag while the statistics count along live, and note faulty items as you go. Closing it produces a fixed result for auditors and clients.

Shift handovers without gaps
Guarding and security services work around the clock — property keys change hands at every shift change. With Log+Key, the handover is scanned in seconds: the incoming shift sees at a glance which keys it is taking over, and the history records who was responsible when. The handover book with last night's gaps has had its day.
Your clients' property keys
Master keys and property keys are a matter of trust — and, if lost, a matter of liability. Log+Key documents the intake from the client with the date, the number of keys and (if desired) a signature, and every internal movement after that automatically. If the client asks years later where a key ended up, you answer with the complete history instead of a file search. When you take over keys from a client, a key handover form fits — the template is free.
Clients and patrol areas kept apart
Set up each client or patrol area as its own location — say “North post”, “City centre patrol” or the client’s name. Every key belongs to a location, and for each employee you decide whether they see all locations or only the ones they’re assigned to. The object list, history and inventory can be filtered by location: when a client asks about their keys, you show exactly their stock and their movements — not an export across all clients. How to set it up is in the docs under Locations.
Immediately answerable in a response situation
When an alarm comes in, every minute counts. In the live overview, the control room sees straight away whether the property key is hanging in the store, sitting in the patrol vehicle or with a colleague — the response officer sets off with the right key instead of searching for it first.
Documentation for audits and clients
Whether it's a certification audit or an evidence obligation from the guarding contract: the key history is unalterable, timestamped and attributed by name, and can be exported as a report at any time. A well-regulated key process is a selling point in proposals to new clients — and your protection if something goes wrong.
24/7 operations: terminal and smartphone
At the guard post's key store hangs the terminal with PIN sign-in; on the move, any smartphone will do. The handover happens where it takes place — at the post, in the vehicle or at the property.
Subcontractors without their own login
When a subcontractor covers a shift or a property, they don’t need a login of their own. You add them as a contact and assign the key to them — with a signature right on the device if you like, and the PDF receipt goes to them by email. With a return date, the key is flagged as overdue once it passes, and you book the return with the same documentation. The history names the subcontractor as the recipient — years later, too. Step by step: Handing objects to external people.
More background: Guarding contracts often set out how property keys are taken over, kept and returned. For taking keys over from a client and issuing them to staff there are free templates: the key handover form and the key receipt. We’ve set out what a digital key management system has to deliver when clients ask for evidence — and why a key safe alone doesn’t answer “who had the key?”.
