Remove an NFC tag link

How to remove the link between a Log+Key NFC tag and an object or user — the tag becomes free again.

When an object is retired or a tag is needed elsewhere, you remove the link. This doesn’t happen on the tag page but in the edit form of the object or user the tag is assigned to.

  1. Open the object and click Edit. Scanning the tag takes you straight to the object.
  2. In the Linked tag field, click the assigned tag. The picker opens: the currently assigned tag at the top, the free tags of your organisation below.
  3. Click Unlink tag. The field then shows No tag assigned.
  1. Confirm with Save. Only then is the link removed.

The tag is then listed with the status Free again and can be reassigned — see Link an object to an NFC tag.

It works the same way for a login tag: Users → open the person → Edit → click the tag in the Login Tag field → Unlink tag → Save.

When is this useful?

  • The object was retired or lost.
  • The tag should go to another object — there is also the direct route: Re-link an NFC tag.
  • A damaged tag is to be replaced by a new one later.

An object without a tag remains fully usable — taking out and returning then happen on the object page in the web app instead of via a scan.
